Video: Mary J. Blige ft. Diddy & Lil' Wayne - Someone To Love Me (Naked)

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! Excuse the outburst of joyful satisfaction, but this Mary joint got me amped. The original instrumental is taken from P. Diddy/Dirty Money's joint "Someone To Love Me" produced by Wyclef Jean's partner in crime Jerry "Wonder" Duplessis and Arden "Keyz" Altino off the Last Train To Paris album.

It's the first single off her upcoming album My Life II: The Journey Continues that is scheduled to drop September 20 and to feature production from amongst others Kanye West, Danja, Swizz Beatz and Norwegian super producers Stargate.

The album title suggests it to be the sequel of Mary’s 1994 album My Life which was mostly produced by the good old Puff Daddy and is without the shadow of a doubt one of the best R&B albums of all time (regardless of religion or personal preference). This is a great start and I hope the other tracks stay on this 90's tip.

Nicki Minaj Ft. Sean Garrett - Massive Attack (video)

It's out!!! MASSIVE ATTACK !!! Remember all those dope videos that came out in Diddy's bling era? Well Hype Williams isn't exactly the cheapest go to dude in the business so not that many Hip Hop artists have been hiring him lately, but Nicki got Young Money/Cash Money to pay the bill so why not? This video is like a flashback for me, it's like going back to when Hip Hop was original, provocative, different, innovative, surprising, rough, rugged and raw! Yep, Nicki is all that and a bag of Sørland Chips! I am putting her in the same category as Missy Elliott in my book, along with...hmmmm...well...along with a whole lot of space for more talented artists wiling to take risks and to be original. Oh and by the way, all Nicki posts on Supa Fresh will now officially end with: IT'S BARBIE BITCH!

Dj SoulShock - Supa Fresh 39/09

This is the Supa Fresh 39/09 update. Listen/Download here:

It took some time to put this update together so leave a comment if you liked it and want more of these and I just might drop them weekly. Meanwhile, enjoy this one and the track by track breakdown:

1- Omarion Ft. Lil' Wayne - I Get It In
Seems like Lil' Wayne is stacking R&B features this year as well. Britney Spears, Madonna (more under), Keri Hilson and now Omarion. I can't hate tough, Weezy gives every R&B joint  he spits on a grimmy feel with his witty wordplay wich can at times be dirty and slightly pornographic but always ends up being funny. Now back to the track, Omarion never sounded like this before, he's riding the beat like a Lil' Wayne "Lollipop" clone Version Mega 2009 now with singing lessons. Lil' Wayne does exactly what I expected him to (prior to the rock era that is), without delivering one of his best verses, he still manages to fit a "It's too big, it's too wide, but I get it in..." in there (no pun intended).

2- Drake - Fear
In my opinion this is one of Drakes best lyrics ever, fuck it, I'll go as far as saying its one of his best tracks. It's jam packed with lyrical greatness and personal deepness. The chorus crowns this masterpiece like a Dwele chorus on a Slum Village joint. Drake is a legend in the making and for this once, BELIEVE THE HYPE! I'll quote 3 lines just to get you in to it:

"No autotune, but you can feel the pain"

"I be getting high just to balance out the lows"

"Know I pop bottles cause I bottle my emotions"

3- T.I. Ft. Young Dro - King On Set
Its great to hear T.I. on a fresh club banger. This one will be on heavy rotation for a while. Serious head nodding material.

4- Red Cafe Ft. Jadakiss, Rick Ross, Fabolous, OJ Da Juiceman & Diddy - Hottest In The Hood (Pt.2)
All-Star Line up, dope beat, what more can I say? Everybody does theyre thing on there but Fabolous definetly takes the best verse and line home:

"Who wants to be the new single and get thrown in the bag"

5- Lloyd Ft. Juelz Santana - Pusha
Both of them are back on track. Lloyd's best leak in the last few months eventough the hook and chorus remind me of Henok's "Pusher" (he did open for Lloyd in Stockholm, maybe he checked the joint out then? I'm just saying...). Juelz rocks this just right too:

"She got me higher then the weedspot, somebody call Dr. Dre I need Detox..."

6- Bluey Robinson Ft. Ryan Leslie - I Know (Remix) (Prod. Ryan Leslie)
Bluey Robinsons "I Know" went from average R&B joint to certified heat with this remix. Typical Ryan Leslie production, drums and groove with a old school twist provided by the heavily sampled synth melody of Grand Master Flash and The Furious Five's classic "The Message". Without trying to take any credit from Bluey Robinson wich has an amazing voice and along with Johnta Austin is definitely one of my favourite new R&B artists and one of the few breaths of fresh air in the otherwise dried out originality void that has filled the R&B music industry the last few years, it's obvious that Ryan Leslie has the Midas touch, this is just another example.

7- Ghostface Killah Ft. John Legend - Let's Stop Playing
My favourite Ghostface joint in a long time. It's the same Ghostface I grew up on with a little touch of that John Legend soulful voice, harmony and keys. I'll throw in a couple of adjectives to strenghten my opinion: timeless, beautiful, priceless, soulful, feel good, HIP HOP (note the use of capital letters)...

8- The Lytics - Big City Sound Girl
The Canadian group The Lytics have a 90's Souls Of Mishief sound but still manage to do theyre own thing and sound current somehow. This is theyre first single but I encourage you to check out more  of theyre music at theyre myspace: http://www.myspace.com/lytics This is blissfull music!

9- Alicia Keys – Doesn't Mean Anything:
Fresh off the "Empire State Of Mind" feature on Jay-Z's Blue Print 3 and a great performance at the VMA's, Alicia Keys finally leaks what seems to be the first single off of her new album squeduled to drop in November. "Doesn't Mean Anything" might as well have been on her last album As I Am released in the end of 2007, tough the subject of the song might not be all that original, if you enjoyed ”No One” (wich is by the way very similar), ”Like You’ll Never See Me Again” or "Superwoman" than this track should fit like a J Dilla joint on a sunny sunday afternoon.

While we're at it, I think Whitney Houston diserves to be praised like a Greek godess and "I'm gonna let you finish but..." I can't help but to think how much better the Swizz Beats produced "Million Dollar Bill" (off of her new album I Look To You) would be if Alicia Keys, that wrote the lyrics, would have of kept it for herself. Whitney is a great singer but its hard not to picture Alicia in my head everytime I hear the song.

10- Mike Bivins - Fresh (Prod. Clinton Sparks)
Mike Bivins also know as Biv was the founding member of both the 90's R&B groups Bel Biv Devoe and New Edition. He also discovered both Boys II Men and 702! Now that should be enough to get you interested in his work. His first solo track "Fresh" samples Remy Ma's "F-R-E-S-H" that was one of the biggest joints out last time I was in N.Y., it was literally everywhere! Hot 97 had it on heavy rotation  and every single ride and shop in Harlem was bumping it like crazy. The "F-R-E-S-H" sample opening definetly caught my attention, when the beat kicked in I knew I'd be playing it and when he suddenly sang "She's supa fresh, su-supa supa fresh" there was no doubt in my mind that this would be the Supa Fresh anthem for a while. I've been waiting for a Supa Fresh joint for a long time! Thank you.

11- Keri Hilson - Around The World
This track should have been released around the time Kanye Wests "Stronger" and Timbalands "The Way I Are" with Keri Hilson were poppin. It's basically a blend of the two and would have made a lot more sense back then. With that said, this is a R&B hit with all the required ingredients. If that's what your in to than this track should be right up your alley.

12- Wale - Sweetie
For those of you that didn't know, Wale was born Olubowale to Nigerian parents. This tropical Soca/Funky House influenced track wich is included on his Attention: Deficit album due in November (if the tracklist still applies after being pushed back twice) honors his Nigerian roots. I'm not sure if the chorus is sampled or if the vocals were just tampered with to achieve that analog/mono effect, but it's catchyer than a Akon weeee-oooooh and with the right video it could be his best cross-over single.

13- Madonna Ft. Lil' Wayne - Revolver
At the writing time I am struggling with my inner feelings of retarded Hip Hop realness and ignorant closed minded repugnance for female pop singers ...there... got them under control. This is, surprise surprise, a great Pop tune. I'd expect Britney to be all over it tough, it would make much more sense as it fits her current sound much better and the vocals seem like they have Britney written all over them. With that said, this could easily be a huge hit if they choose it as a single and shoot a visually appealing video for it (wich shouldn't be a problem with Madonnas budget). Lil' Wayne brings his A-game probably out of respect for grand ma'donna and highlights his own metaphorical skills to follow the love/revolver metaphor used throughout the tracks lyrics.

"I gave her extra rounds, my barrell twist around, I am mr. shoot 'em down, I leave hearts on the ground..."

14- Twista - Wetter (Benny Stixx Remix)
A great uptempo remix of Twistas freaky slow jam "Wetter" architeted to perfection by B-More dj Benny Stixx. I love the original and I was really happy to find a good uptempo remix I could bump in the club, so I thought I'd share it with you guys as well.

"Can you be my daddyyyyyy..."

15- Cassie Ft. LMFAO & Akon - Let's Get Crazy
This collabo was unexpected, even stranger was listening to the instrumental with "Me & U"/"Long Way To Go" Cassie over it. It should stand LMFAO Ft. Cassie & Akon instead of Cassie Ft. LMFAO & Akon, it's almost like false advertising. This sounds nothing like a Cassie track, it's an electro-blog club banger and the instrumental reminds me of a lot of Crookers productions era "Day N Nite" and "Work". If you just stripped Cassie and Akon off the track it could definetly be LMFAO Ft. The Crookers or vice-versa. So first Akon goes House and now Cassie goes blog-electro, what's next? Marilyn Manson singing Christmas carols?
